High beam Issues with 2006 Corolla

Hi guys, the high beam on my 2006 Corolla doesnt work when I try switching between high and low beam but the high beam does work when I pull the stalk right back. So the bulbs are obviously fine, I've checked all fuses not just the light fuses and all the fuses are ok. It's got me buggered and i don't know what else to do. I dont really want to take the car down to Toyota as it cost me a kidney the last time i did that. Would appreciate any advice on this matter, cheers..

Try removing the plastic cover over the stalk and reseat the electrical plug going to it. Look for any type of corrosion. If that doesn't fix it, I suspect a defective stalk. About $80 for a new one.
