What to Look for In A '95 Corolla?

#1
I went and looked at a 95 corolla today. I might do a straight trade with my 94 grand cherokee because I need a gas saver. What kinds of things should I pay special attention to?

200k Miles on the chassis, engine replaced. The owner before him replaced it, it was a used engine with 120k on it.
7AFE 1.8L 5 Spd
HKS CAI filter, custom made CAI tubing, he made it so the filter is right behind the front bumper on the drivers side, under the battery
Apexi Fuel Controller (I guess this has something to do with changing the air/fuel ratio?)
New CV Axles
CX Racing Headers
Flowmaster Muffler
Lowered 2.5" w/camber kit
Motegi Racing 15x9 Rims
Tires are in good condition
HID Headlights

I drove it today, she shifted fine. I haven't drove a manual in a while so I almost killed it from a stop, lol. Shifted to second flawlessly, I didn't get her out of the parking lot though. Steering was tight and straight. She didn't smoke at all out of the tailpipe. Motor Oil and Clutch Fluid smelled fine, no burning. It has a leak at the oil pan gasket.

What else should I be looking for? I took auto shop in high school, I work at O'Reillys, and I am going to school for diesel mechanics so I am pretty mechanically inclined. What are some common issues on these cars?

With the high performance/racing parts on this car and the very high mileage, I strongly recommend you pass on this Corolla. With parts like that installed on the car, that means it has been pushed very, very hard, which will wear out parts much faster and that's bad enough for any car and especially so for a an economy car that isn't designed or intended for that, like the Corolla. There are millions of Corolla's out there that haven't been beaten on and put away wet, but the car you mention has had the snot beaten out of it. Avoid.

Oh, also the racing modifications that were done to that car will reduce it's fuel economy, which is the very reason you are looking for another car, defeating the purpose of getting another car.

everything gets better economy than your jeep, i say if it doesn't burn oil and it seems tight and straight, do it up and happy motoring :)
