What is this??

Hi everyone, I have 2014 Corolla LE that I bought used. There are a couple of parts on the car that just baffle me as to their purpose. Can anyone help explain what these two parts do? They are plastic parts in front of each wheel. See pic below of a Corolla I got off the web. Thanks! DH

They are aerodynamic giblets(LMAO). But seriously, they help move the air flow away from the direct path of the tires.
