Newbie needs help...

#1
Hello, everyone.

Landon here! Long-time lurker, new member, and I have a question for you while I continue to search and see if the answer I need already exists on here somewhere. Here's the question...

Back in the spring, the a/c and heat fan in my 2009 Corolla S got stuck on the high setting. Subsequently, the circular controller on my panel for that function was broken (pushed into the console while someone tried to "repair" it for me). After that, the fan finally seems to have given up after running on high for too long. So now...

1) the a/c and heat both produce cold and hot air as they are supposed too, but...

2) the fan does not work to circulate the air, and...

3) the fan speed switch needs to be replaced.

My question is: Has anyone else experienced these issues, and what parts should I buy to remedy the situation. I have someone willing to do the install/repair for me if I buy the parts.

Thanks in advance!

L.B.

Welcome to the forum! Link to the fan motor (also called blower fan or blower motor) can be found here:
Blower fan

I believe you will want the "Manual Temperature Control (cannot set a numeric temperature, only red/blue dials)" version, but verify that with what is on your instrument panel. Replacing this part is pretty easy, so if you want I can try to dig up a step by step guide.

This is awesome! Thank you. Now, I just need to find replacement dials to fix the one that was damaged -- the red/white/blue fan control. And, yes PLEASE direct me to a step-by-step guide if possible. That would be fantastic!

If the fan only operates at high speed and not any of the lower ones, it means you need a new resistor. Otherwise, it probably is the blower. Here is a decent video, going step-by-step:

Good luck!
