made a mistake can u help

2006 Toyota ce automatic. I removed the clip that holds the vent hose that connects to the top of the gas tank (and then connects to the charcoal canister) under the backseat . Unfortunately inside the hose there is a rubber o ring and a red plastic sleeve that came out when I disconnected it. I do not know to put this back together. Whether the rubber o ring goes in first followed by the red sleeve or vice versa. Just a note, the red sleeve has a ridge around it which is off centred. Not sure which end goes in first. What a mess, been working on this for hours to know avail. Toyota dealers had no idea. Any help would be appreciated. Obviously I am not a mechanic!!

Maybe if you post a pic of the problem and the area where it's located, it will spark some input. I can look in my 2009-10 FSM, but don't know if it's the same for your 2006.
