KE70 Duratec swap?

#1
Has it been done? CAN it be done?

In wanting to build a KE70, I've come up with what seems to be a perfect build, if it can be done: a 2.0 MZR/Duratec swap stolen from a Focus/Ranger/Miata. The figures are astounding. A 2.0 from a parted-out Focus goes for less than $200, develops ~145hp N/A, and gives 40+ MPG in cars that weigh 1,000+ lbs more. The big hang-up is the transmission, though. The one and only manual 90 degree tranny that bolts directly onto a Duratec/MZR is the Ford M5R1, either from a 2001-2009 Ranger or 2001-2007 Miata. This presents even more questions. Will the existing clutch work? Will the gear shift lever enter the cabin in a usable location? Will it even fit in the tunnel?

Am I better-off dropping in a 4age and building it to the max?
