I got my (digital)tachometer in the mail today and installed it so I have been monitoring the rpms at various speeds and conditions what I have learned is at cold start the rpms are around 1900 and once warm its around 700 in gear warm is 660s and in park with ac on it raises rpm to about 1k and I was pleases to find out that at 70 I'm turning 2500 which rather good..... This is a 1997 with 1.8 4speed overdrive it shifts under normal acceleration at about2500

That's what I was thinking but it does that right away and drops to about 1700 10 secs in then after a min it drops to about 1200 then normal after another and blows heat almost immediately and it is super hot so can't complain

Also since mine is digital I can see that headlights are about a 100 rpm at idle about I'm not worried about the cold start rpm that's prolly why it watms up so quickly I also have cold air intake could be a factor
