Acceleration Issues

My first post, I have a 2002 corolla le, I just noticed this issue, when I start the car and drive to a stop light or sign, there is a hesitation when I gas the car. It feels like a lag, but it only happens when the car just starts to warm up. Never came across this issue after numerous startup and shut downs. Any ideas? Also on a side note, I noticed there is some build up of some kind of substance on the lower radiator hose( I think it is the lower hose) not sure what it is or has anything to do with my issue. Thanks

Three things to check. The spark plugs, the fuel filter, and the transmission. It could just be transmission fluid needs to be changed, or the transmission fluid filter. Definitely try the first two before attempting anything with the transmission. Especially because sometimes after changing transmission fluid your transmission can fail. I'm no mechanic but these are things I would check.
