Depends, softer roomier vs. sportier smaller interior. Corolla will most likely retain better resale value and be a more reliable vehicle. Also, it is a bit cheaper even though it's equipped with more standard features than comparable Mazda. Mazda is a nice looking vehicle. Can't go wrong with either imo.

I would say, compare the options you get with each standard if that's what you care about, or if you want a more fun ride then compare power and engine specs.

My son has the Mazda 3, I have 2015 Corolla S. His- quicker- faster- handles great. Mine- quick enough, handles better now with upgrades, definitely rides better, better gas mileage, and seems roomier than the Mazda. I think both will hold resale values. Overall I'd still pick a Corolla.
