My wife's alternator failed the other day so I started trying to take it out to replace it. I have looked up any videos that may help on youtube and this one seems best:
I'm having some problems though and am close to getting the sledgehammer out!
First, in the video you see them get the belt off by loosening the bar over the top of the alternator. When I loosen this the screw just comes off and the alternator doesn't move at all to loosen the belt.
Secondly, I think this is the reason the above isn't working, is that I just can't get off that 14mm bolt at all. It won't budge even a fraction. Does anyone have an idea how to remove this bolt? I tried some WD40 but still no luck. Not like it's in and easy position to get at either.
