2007 Corolla - Jumpy Tach and C.E.L

Hi All,

I am basically just doing this for a friend...He has an issue with the Tachometer...It seems to be jumping to the redline once in awhile. He just had something called the Charcoal Evap Canister replaced or something along those lines and was charged $400. They pulled ten codes from the main computer of the car. What do I do?

Strange thing is that the engine isn't actually revving...THE RPM gauge is just being all jumpy and having mini heart attacks.

Maybe a short or something

Did the tach issue start immediately after replacing the charcoal canister?
Try making sure all connectors in the area of the canister are secure first.

then...

as common as these cars at you-pull yards, for $10-20 I would try throwing a new gauge cluster at it. The tach itself may be bad.
