2001 Corolla won't start, stuck in Drive

#1
Hi all

My car won't start, on the dash its still showing as being in DRIVE but when I change the auto gears to any other gear incl PARK nothing?!

The gear movement now feels loose...any ideas??

Cheers,

Just happened to me a few weeks ago. Your shifter is connected to a cable that transports the gears information to the transmission. Probably, the rubber that holds your cable onto the shifter broke. You'll need to remove all plastic parts from the center console and reconnect it. If you need further help with the process answer me directly.

For what the guys here are saying simply find the shifter cable to the Tranny and set to P or N, but if it is not that then a starter can simply go bad with no signs of a start or crank
